Meet Dahlia

Dahlia is a joyful 4-month-old puppy who has just begun her journey in the Paws in Prison program, and she’s already bringing smiles everywhere she goes. Full of life, curiosity, and puppy enthusiasm, Dahlia loves being part of the action and soaking up attention from her inmate trainers. She’s playful, social, and eager to explore, while also learning the foundations of good manners, confidence, and structure.

This sweet girl is getting a wonderful start with consistent training, love, and guidance that will set her up for success in a forever home. Dahlia’s bright personality and happy spirit make her a delight to be around, and she’s sure to grow into a fun, loving, and loyal companion. If you’re ready for puppy kisses, tail wags, and a heart full of joy, Dahlia may be the perfect addition to your family.

More about this rescue

We are a prison located in Lockhart TX. We rescue dogs from rural area shelters and take them into the prison for training on basic obedience. They are also house trained and crate trained. Training is done by the women inmate handlers. A professional trainer comes to the prison weekly to teach the inmates how to train the dogs. Dogs live at the prison for 2-3 months, in the cells with the inmates, while they are being trained.

All dogs are up to date on their shots, heartworm negative and on preventative, spayed/neutered, microchipped and trained for basic obedience.
