Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Arfie is a 3 year old, 7 pound cuddly and adorable Miniature Dachshund mix. He looks very Dachshund with a shorter nose...so long body, short legs, Dachshund brown/red bod, ears, tail.
He walks well on leash, comes when called. He rides well in the car, leash drags on the beach running off. He gets along with other small dogs. He loves squeaky toys and will chase them. There is one big stuffed toy that he, ahem, thinks is his woman.
Arfie is doing well with his house training. He is about 70-80% house trained. He was just neutered and as his testosterone wanes, house training will improve greatly. Meanwhile, he wears a washable belly band with disposable insert....very easy.
Arfie has had a rough past, so we seek Dachshund and rescue experienced adopters. He was born into a home and given away at 5 weeks. He was muzzled with an ill fitting muzzle that has caused a permanent scar, and we do not know how the children in that home treated him. He was then given away on social media without any screening, and those folks abandoned him. He had been starving in a field when we stepped in.
Arfie does best with men and fine with women going a tiny bit slower.
Given his life in a home with many small kids where he lived muzzled, we do not know that Arfie's future should include kids other than gentle dog savvy teens. If you have an especially cool kid over 8 or 9 years old, and you think Arfie is your guy, let us know!
Arfie is neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, and dewormed. His adoption fee is $450.
A great home for Arfie and his must haves include:
1. An owned home with a securely fenced yard.
2. Folks not gone long hours.
3. Dachshund and rescue savvy adopters with who are gentle, force free (positive reinforcement without reprimands) and who will love a little guy with a less than ideal past.
4. People who will buy ramps and steps to protect that long doxie back.
5. Adults, teens, or especially dog savvy older kids only.
6. Small dogs or very easygoing medium/big would be fine.
