Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Merlin-- This brown tabby is wise, kind-hearted, and a little magical too. Rescued from a college cat colony with his brother Magnus, Merlin is ready to leave behind his street days and step into a brighter destiny. While he and Magnus share a special bond, they’re both strong enough to start their own adventures and don’t need to be adopted together.
Merlin may start out a bit cautious, but once he trusts you, his affectionate and loving nature shines through. With gentle purrs and warm cuddles, he’ll prove he’s not only loyal but also full of quiet magic that makes every day feel brighter.
Bring home Merlin, and let this little warlock cast the sweetest spell—love.

ABOUT OUR ADOPTION FEES:
When you adopt from Lear's Legacy Cat Rescue, you’re doing more than giving your new family member a home. Each adoption fee assists us in rescuing an additional cat or kitten on the streets of Houston, Texas, helping end the cycle of stray overpopulation in one of the most highly overpopulated areas of the US. More about this rescue
A Little Story
Lear's Legacy Cat Rescue was founded in 2024 by University of Houston alumni to honor the memory of Lear, a beloved cat who lived on campus with his partner, Momma. Together, they became a source of comfort and joy for students, offering a peaceful place to unwind after exams or simply enjoy some quiet moments of connection. Lear’s gentle spirit and Momma’s loving presence helped form a unique community of students who cherished the opportunity to spend time with them.
When Lear passed away unexpectedly, his impact on those who knew him became the inspiration for Lear's Legacy.
Our mission is to carry on his love and compassion through dedicated cat rescue, rehabilitation, and colony management. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we work to reduce the homeless cat population in our community by offering care, resources, and education, while honoring the bond Lear and Momma shared with so many. Through our efforts, we aim to create a lasting legacy of kindness and care for all cats in need.
