Take the Pet Home
Meet Dolores, the timid little drama queen who pretends she’s scared of everything… right up until she decides you’re worthy of her affection. She’ll tiptoe around new humans and dogs like she’s entering a haunted house, but give her an hour and suddenly she’s demanding pets like she owns the place. By day two? Congratulations—you now have a full-time lap ornament.
Dolores claims to be shy, but don’t be fooled. This snuggle bug lives for attention. Sit down for one second and she’ll slither into your lap like a cat who forgot she’s actually a dog. She’ll even rub her head and shoulders on you to make sure you know she has chosen you. What an honor.
Playtime? Oh, Dolores is all in. Wrestling, fetch, tug of war, chase—you name it, she’s ready. And when she runs, she prances like a tiny show pony with her tongue hanging out the side of her mouth and her tail swinging like she’s auditioning for a doggy musical.
And don’t get us started on those floppy ears. She knows they’re adorable, and she absolutely expects her ear massages on demand.
Dolores may start off shy, but once she warms up, she’s a loving, prancing, attention-seeking sweetheart who will steal your heart—and your lap—every single time.
With slow intros, Dolores would benefit from a companion dog who can take the lead. Since she is part working dog she will need regular exercise and outlets for her energy and may demonstrate herding and/or guarding behaviors that will need to be addressed.
Dolores is from a local impound. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract.
To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page.
If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.
