My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Roma. I’m a 1-year-old Shepherd girl with a lot of love to give, but I can be a little nervous around new people at first. I like to take my time and get to know you before I show my playful, loyal side.

One thing I really love? Hot dogs and cheese! They’re the best way to earn my trust and show me that you’re a friend. Once I feel comfortable, I’m playful, curious, and ready to be your loyal companion.

I’d do best in a patient home where people understand that I need a little time to warm up and kids 10 years and older. With love, gentle encouragement, and treats in hand, I’ll blossom into a fun, affectionate, and devoted friend.

If you’re looking for a sweet, playful Shepherd who just needs a little patience at first, I think we’d make the perfect team!

HAWS Staff would love to meet with furever family to discuss how to best introduce Roma to new people and to reward her in a positive manner.

More about this shelter

Humane Animal Welfare Society (HAWS) is an open-admission, no-kill shelter dedicated to strengthening the relationship between animals and humans through adoptions and education – making a more compassionate community possible.

Our mission is to lead the community in animal welfare and assure sanctuary for animals in need. To that end, we envision a community where all animals are treated with compassion, dignity and respect. We invite the public to join us in our cause to spread humane sentiments throughout our community for the betterment of animals and people alike.

Incorporated in 1965, HAWS has grown along with our community, evolving into a vibrant organization and a lively facility that is the #1 resource for pets and their people.
