My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This gorgeous girl is Dixie! She came into rescue when her owners wife said that he was not allowed to bring her back home with him. Jealous of the dog, meant she had to go. Dixie is a sweet natured dog, of about 45#. She loves other dogs and playing with them. She will do best in a home with another dog. We do not know about cats. She has been around kids. She LOVES water! A pool, a pond, a creek, a lake, a beach... anything with water and she is your nest friend!

Dixie is housetrained and knows basic commands. She loves to run around outside and wrestles with her foster sisters. She loves to ride in the car and is a perfect angel on errands into Lowe's and Home Depot.

To be considered for Dixie, please go to our website at
https://acfrescue.weebly.com/adoption-foster-and-volunteer-applications.html to complete an adoption application.

Adoption fee is $100. This covers all vaccines, heartworm test (which is negative), spay and chip.

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

We are a foster based program so before we arrange meetings we like to have your application on file.

2.

Meet the Pet

We will arrange an appropriate location to meet with the pet and their foster parent who will be able answer any questions.

3.

Approve Application

Application approval will depend on references, veterinary information, and the meeting interactions between pets and people.

4.

Take the Pet Home

We allow up to 1 week trial with our pets to ensure they are a good fit.

5.

Home Check

During the trial, a home check will be made to ensure the pet is settling in and adjusting well.

6.

Pay Fee

At the end of the trial period, the adoption fee is paid. A copy of all vet records is provided. The adoption is official.

Additional adoption info

Animal C.A.R.E. Foundation requires an adoption application to be completed prior to adoption. This application must be reviewed and approved by our foster care coordinator before a meet and greet can occur. Standard adoption fee is $175 for a dog, unless otherwise noted. Standard adoption fee for a cat is $80, unless otherwise noted. If the dog or cat is not compatible with
the adoptive family, the animal MUST be returned to our care. All dogs and cats must be kept primarily indoors, and we require a fenced in yard for dogs over 30lbs, or dogs that are labeled as a hunting breed.

Go meet their pets

All animals under our care are placed in foster homes. Meet and greets primarily occur at a fosters home, or a possible adopters home. A majority of our fosters are located in Lexington, NC and surrounding areas.

We frequent the Thrifty Finds Store supporting Animal Care Foundation in Winston-Salem, NC on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday for most of our adoption events. Please come and shop our fabulous thrift store at 11141 Old US Hwy 52, suite #5 at the corner of Old US Hwy 52 and Hickory Tree Rd where all proceeds benefit animals in need. We are in the Midway Town shopping center and open from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm. 336-865-7854
