Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Officially introducing Abbey — a sweet Shih Tzu senior with just a touch of sass 🐾❤️
Abbey is a 13-year-old sweetheart who came into our care when her beloved owner was sadly placed into hospice. Shortly after arriving, it was discovered that Abbey had a very large bladder stone. She underwent surgery, is in recovery and is now feeling so much better and ready to enjoy the next chapter of her life.
Abbey is currently being fostered in Whitby, Ontario, where she has shown just how special she is. This lovely girl will absolutely steal your heart — all she really wants is a cozy spot on the couch to share with her forever person.
Abbey would thrive in a home where someone is around most of the day to spend time with her. She could do well with a calm canine companion or as the only dog. Cats are unknown, but we believe she would likely be okay. Once Abbey claims her space on the couch, she’ll politely let other dogs know it’s hers — however, if she’s placed on the floor and another pup hops up, she’s perfectly happy to share.
She’s a bit of a grazer when it comes to meals but will never say no to a treat. Abbey loves being close to her humans, including at bedtime — she curls up so quietly you’d hardly know she’s there.
Abbey does great in the car with no motion sickness, and while she may bark at new people at first, it’s just her way of saying “hello, I’m here and I’d like to be acknowledged.”
As a senior girl, Abbey will need more frequent bathroom breaks, but aside from that, she is truly an absolute dream. This sweet soul has so much love left to give and is patiently waiting for her forever home.

As my foster family gets to know me my profile can change and will be updated accordingly. Check back often for details! An application for me can be found at www.justpaws.ca.
Just Paws is located in the Greater Toronto Area of Ontario, Canada. We do not adopt out of province or country.
Please note that although many of our dogs get along with children, we are not able to adopt to any household with kids under the age of 8 years old. This is a stipulation of our insurance and is not a reflection on suitability of the potential adopter.

Our mission is to rescue and rehome unwanted, abandoned, abused and unloved pets that find themselves alone and frightened in shelters. These animals give unconditional love and should receive the same love back. Unfortunately there is a need and while ever there is a need we will be there to help. Our long term goal is to build towards the opening of our own shelter and be able to help with behavioral issues, special needs, and to offer a haven to less adoptable pets. We are always very thankful for any pet related donations to assist the animals in our care
