Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Cowbert 🖤🤍
Cowbert came to us back in November after an owner surrender, and it’s safe to say he’s been on quite the journey. When he first arrived, Cowbert wasn’t sure about pets or being picked up—life had been a little too unkind, and he needed time to feel safe again.
Fast forward to now, and this sweet black-and-white boy is absolutely THRIVING in our open cat room! Cowbert has discovered how wonderful people can be and will happily reach out for your hand, lean in for affection, and even give you gentle little kisses. Watching his confidence bloom has been nothing short of amazing.
Cowbert is proof of what patience and love can do, and he’s ready to keep that growth going in a forever home. Bonus points if that home has room for his best friend Xavian—the last photos show these two together, and Cowbert would love nothing more than to be adopted alongside his favorite feline buddy.
If you’re looking for a cat who has come so far and has so much love to give, Cowbert might just be your perfect match 💕

More about this shelter
The Humane Society of Greater Dayton is proud to be a no-kill animal welfare agency. We are committed to finding great homes for great pets! As a 501(c)(3) nonproft, we receive no government funding and rely solely on donations from individuals, companies and grants to fund our programs and services. We are not affiliated with any other animal agency on a local, state or national level. Since 1902, our organization has been devoted to being a voice for the voiceless. Although we proudly find more than 2,000 animals forever homes every year, we are far more than an adoption center. We currently have a wide array of programs to support animals in our community. Through our high-volume spay and neuter clinic, we are able to help pet owners as well as battle cat overpopulation through Trap-Neuter-Return. Our humane society agents also work tirelessly to protect pets from cruel and neglectful circumstances through our Cruelty & Neglect Investigations Department. Through our Veterinary Hospital, we can provide top-quality access to veterinary care at a low cost to pet owners. In addition to our many programs, our organization is unique because we are the only agency in the community able to handle all types of animals. This includes cats and dogs but also rabbits, birds, farm animals, pocket pets and exotics. Our organization is committed to providing our community, our state and our region with support and care.
