My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Cooby 🐾
Looking for a gentle soul to share your quiet world? Cooby might be your perfect match.

Cooby is a sweet, shy boy whose past is a bit of a mystery. He came to us severely malnourished and understandably anxious, but he's been making slow and steady progress with the help of a specialized feeding plan and anxiety medication.

Cooby is looking for a calm, patient home where he can take his time to feel safe and loved. He may need to meet potential adopters a few times before he's ready to take the next step - and that's okay. Trust takes time, and Cooby is worth the wait.

He's still a bit nervous in busy or loud environments, so a quiet home with a secure, fenced yard would be ideal. Right now, he's considered a flight risk, so safety is a top priority.

If you think you could be the steady, reassuring presence Cooby needs, we'd love to introduce you. Please stop by or call us to schedule a meet and greet. Our visiting hours are from 1-4 PM daily.

Let's help Cooby find the peace and love he deserves. 💙

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
