Sadie’s story begins when she was found at an abandoned house on some hunting land in Alabama. The landowners' attempt to find any possible owners was unsuccessful. They were not able to keep her, so they reached out to others. She is now with us, her foster family, and looking for a new home. Sadie is a hound-mix, about 7 months old, and weighs about 40 lb. She is very friendly with people and has gotten along with all other dogs she has met or played with. She was around some cats outdoors, but needs to be properly tested. She has adjusted well to life at our house. She is house-trained with no accidents and kennel-trained. Being a young dog, she has a lot of personality and is very curious. Therefore, she needs plenty of exercise, such as long walks and play, along with continued, consistent training. She also shows no signs of resource/food guarding. She is currently learning basic commands and walks well on a leash. She really loves her long walks and playing ball in the backyard. Sadie would likely do well in a home with other dogs and needs a home with a yard.

More about this rescue
The Mylo Foundation was established in 2016 with the mission of giving shelter dogs a second chance. We believe there are no bad dogs, just bad people, and we work tirelessly to facilitate adoptions, foster care, volunteering, and donations to support these deserving animals. Mylo was rescued from the Santa Rosa Shelter. He was just a little puppy then but was still facing death. At that time the shelter used the gas chamber. I was only 12 and was volunteering.
I waited day after day with Mylo for someone, anyone to come help him. No one ever came. Then the day came for him to be killed. I just could not let that happen, so I took him home.
The agreement with my mom was, I had to take care of him. I thought that would be easy, but it wasn't. For the first couple of days, night after night he would cry. I was just a kid and I was exhausted but I knew I had to take care of him or he would die.
Mylo was with me for 16 years. We did everything together. He was truly my best friend. He died in 1999 of old age. At the time I really did not know how I could live without seeing him everyday. But slowly I let go and found more "Mylos" who just needed someone willing to sit with them through the first couple of nights and encourage them to let go and trust.
This is why I started The Mylo Foundation
