My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

* In Foster Care * Meet & Greets by appointment. * Please submit an application online and we’ll call to schedule! *

The first thing most people notice about Elton is his very handsome face and impressive size. The second thing they notice is his enthusiasm for people. Elton is an affectionate, social boy who loves greeting his humans, rubbing up for attention, and soaking in scratches and brushing sessions. When he’s happy, he’s known to drool a little and will happily put his face right in yours to groom you if he really likes you.

Elton is food and attention motivated and thrives on routine. Once he’s had his fill of hellos, he’s usually ready to relax by playing with his chew or kicker toys, making biscuits on a soft surface, or settling near his person. He enjoys interactive play, bird watching, and being close to his humans throughout the day.

Elton does best with people who understand feline body language and are comfortable giving him space when he’s had enough interaction. He can be a bit overly enthusiastic at times and benefits from a calm, predictable home where his cues are respected. He will gently let you know when he’s done being touched, and honoring those signals is key to keeping everyone happy.

He has a fondness for plastic bags and similar items, so those should be kept out of reach. Elton is currently on daily anti-anxiety medication, which he takes easily with treats, and it has helped him stay more regulated alongside consistent routines.

Elton may do well with another cat, but he is also perfectly happy soaking up human attention on his own. A quieter home without young children would be ideal for him.

If you’re an experienced cat person looking for a big, affectionate companion with a strong personality and a lot of love to give, Elton may be a wonderful match.

Adoption Fee: $125.00

Our adoption fee generally covers everything your new feline friend needs to start their journey with you:

*Spaying or Neutering: Ensuring the well-being of our cats and controlling the pet population.
*Microchipping: A permanent identification method to keep your furry friend safe.
*Vaccinations: Up-to-date vaccines tailored to the specific needs of each cat.
*Fecal Testing and Deworming: A comprehensive approach to intestinal health.
*Viral Testing (FeLV/FIV): Conducted on all adults and most kittens based on their origin.
*Comprehensive Blood Work: For many of our adult cats, ensuring their overall current health.

In addition to all standard treatments outlined above, many of our cats and kittens have received costly treatment for other maladies that result from abandonment or starting life on the streets.

Of course, if you would like to make a larger donation to help cover our care for the homeless cats, we would be delighted. All donations over the adoption fee are tax deductible.

Why Choose Peter Zippi?

At Peter Zippi Memorial Fund, we're not just about adoptions; we're about creating lifelong connections between our feline friends and loving families. Our Adoption Counselors are dedicated to making your adoption experience joyful and memorable.

*We often offer hard-to-place and special needs cats.*

At Peter Zippi, we believe that kittens under 5 months of age thrive best with a feline companion. To ensure their happiness and healthy development, we adopt kittens in pairs or to homes with an age-appropriate resident cat. Growing up with another cat helps kittens learn social skills, provides essential companionship, and encourages active play. We appreciate your understanding and support in giving our kittens the best start in life!

Thank you for considering adopting from Peter Zippi Memorial Fund, where every cat's journey to a forever home begins with support from the community.

More about this rescue

In memory of Peter Zippi, a young man dedicated to the care of animals, The Peter Zippi Memorial Fund For Animals was founded in 1977 by Dr. Alice Villalobos. We have adopted out over 14,000 pets (mostly cats) since then. The fund is run by wonderful volunteers who work tirelessly to help those who can't help themselves. The fund sponsors spay/neuter vouchers to qualified persons, and shelter for and adoptions of lost and homeless animals.
