My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

NAVY / FEMALE / APPROX. DOB SEPTEMBER 14TH, 2025

**Currently living in Mississauga**

Meet Navy.

Navy is a 4-month-old Potcake pup who came into our care early in life and has been growing up surrounded by guidance, structure, and human connection. She’s resilient, curious, and eager to learn about the world around her. From the start, Navy has shown a bright personality and a strong interest in everything happening around her. She’s now ready to take those qualities into a home of her own.

Navy is an energetic, intelligent, and affectionate pup. She’s highly food-motivated, which makes training fun and effective, and she’s already learning her basics with enthusiasm. Navy loves playtime and exploration and enjoys interacting with people and other friendly dogs. Like many puppies, she’s still learning appropriate play, but she responds well to guidance and redirection. After a full day of activity, she’s happy to settle in close and enjoy some downtime.

Navy would do well in a home that's full of love and patience, one where she can continue learning and growing. She’s a wonderful match for someone looking to build a bond through training, play, and shared adventures. With consistency, patience, and plenty of love, Navy will make a loyal and joyful companion. If you’re ready to welcome a smart, spirited pup into your life, Navy may be the one for you.

Navy has been:
• Spayed
• Vaccinated
• Dewormed
• Actual Weight: 16 lbs

Additional adoption info

When animals in our care at HelpAWS become eligible for adoption, interested parties can apply for a specific animal or for a litter in general by completing the online application,
located at www.helpaws.com/adopt/. Applications are processed by our Adoptions Team, and phone interviews are scheduled with each applicant. The interview is approximately one (1) hour long. After the interview, the Adoptions Team will request photos of the applicant’s home and yard and, if applicable, will conduct a veterinarian check (for applicants with other pets) and/or two (2) reference checks from the list provided by the applicant. Once all phone interviews have been completed and photos reviewed, the Adoptions Team will either approve or deny the applicant. Approvals will be matched with a specific animal based on their lifestyle and the animal’s personality/needs and will be informed via a group chat on Facebook Messenger. The applicant will then receive a follow up email with the relevant adoption details, including the Adoption Agreement, payment expectations and flight info. The animal will then be flown to his/her appropriate destination and transferred into the care of his/her new owner(s).

More about this rescue

HelpAWS (Help Animal Welfare in Saint Lucia) is a 501c3 non-profit corporation founded by Canadian Charlene Troubetzkoy in 2014 after witnessing the severe overpopulation and neglected state of animals on the Eastern Caribbean island of Saint Lucia. HelpAWS is dedicated to enriching the quality of life for both people and animals through education, providing care to stray, abandoned, and/or injured animals, and controlling the animal overpopulation through spay and neuter. As of January 2021, HelpAWs has facilitated the successful adoptions of over 1,000 cats and dogs to Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and beyond. HelpAWS high volume spay and neuter clinics have sterilized more than 3,000 animals and a team of volunteers on island feeds upwards of 100 stray animals daily.
