Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Wiki! Wiki is a 6-month-old female GSD/Lab/Pitty mix with a sleek black coat, hints of brown, a white chest, and adorable white-speckled toes. She currently weighs about 25 lbs and is expected to be a medium-sized dog (26–60 lbs) when fully grown. With her soft fur and full-body wiggle butt, she’s impossible not to smile at!
Wiki is a shy, gentle puppy who is still learning that the world, and humans, can be safe and kind. She didn’t have much human contact early in life, so she’s nervous when meeting people and takes time to warm up. Once she feels safe, though, she’ll quietly ask for pets, lick your hand, or leap into bed to snuggle up close. She truly blossoms with patience, consistency, and love.
She is about 85% potty trained and uses the dog door well, though she may have occasional accidents when she feels nervous. Wiki is fully crate trained and does excellent in her kennel, it’s her safe space and where she goes when she needs comfort. She has normal puppy energy but is overall fairly calm.
She loves toys, follows her resident dog closely (especially on leash), and learns a lot by watching the other dogs around her. A securely fenced yard is a must, as Wiki can be a flight risk when scared and needs a safe space to adjust to her new home.
Wiki would do best in a calm, patient home, ideally with another dog, where she can continue building confidence at her own pace. With the right family, this sweet, snuggly girl is going to absolutely shine.

The adoption fee is $450. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.
Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer
How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners
Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs
Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.
Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.
Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.
We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.
We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
