My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Miss Hazel

Miss Hazel is a fantastic 8-year-old, 17-pound Dachshund mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She’s a talkative, happy-go-lucky girl who still acts like a puppy at times and absolutely loves people. Wherever her person is, that’s exactly where Hazel wants to be—curled up on the couch, cuddling in bed, or right by your side.

Hazel is wonderful with other dogs and cats and especially loves kitties. She is incredibly sweet and truly a rescue favorite. Hazel has that rare quality of being instantly everyone’s friend, which is even more special considering everything she’s been through.

Hazel does have a slight heart murmur that requires no medication, but we feel it’s important to mention. She was neglected for quite some time before coming to us and arrived with significant skin and yeast infections. She is healing slowly but beautifully, and her fur is doing a fantastic job growing back, though it may always be thin in some areas. She may need occasional vet visits in the future to address possible allergies, but it’s hard to know for sure at this point.

We plan to have Hazel spayed soon and chose to wait so she could heal a bit more first.

Hazel would do best in a home where she gets plenty of attention and is treated like the queen she is. She thrives on love, companionship, and being part of her person’s everyday life. Despite all she has experienced, Hazel remains friendly, outgoing, resilient, and full of love.

No doubt whoever adopts Hazel will be incredibly lucky to share life with this special girl. If you’re ready to welcome Hazel into your home and give her the love she deserves, please feel free to apply.
