My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Venus! Her first week in rescue was 24/7 hospital care on IV liquids, antibiotics, and pain medicine. Her diagnosis included several broken ribs (likely from humans kicking her). We have a strong inkling that Venus somehow escaped from the life of a bait dog for dog fighting which sadly is commonplace in our state. We will not post her original pictures when she was first rescued but if you are interested in adopting her we will gladly share those with you.

Venus may be small, but her heart is huge. She’s a 1-year-old pocket pitbull with soft tan fur and the cutest short legs you’ve ever seen. She weighs 29 pounds now which just right for snuggles and will not get any larger. She may gain another 5 or so pounds, but she will always be small. She is currrently on the slow kill method of heartworm treatment.

She gets along beautifully with other dogs and thrives in friendly canine company. Cats aren’t her thing, but she makes up for it with loyalty, affection, and the sweetest temperament. Venus is ready to brighten someone’s world. Could it be yours?

Additional adoption info

We match based on lifestyle, not first-come-first-served.
Our goal is to place each animal in the most suitable home for their needs, so applications are reviewed for best fit rather than by time submitted.

Adoption fees help cover medical care.
Our fees go directly toward vaccinations, spay/neuter, deworming, heartworm testing, microchipping, and daily care. Most pets cost far more in vetting than the adoption fee.

We adopt to indoor-only homes.
All adopted pets must remain indoor companions (dogs may go outside for exercise/play but must live indoors and sleep inside the home).

We do not adopt to homes with unaltered pets unless medically exempt.
This ensures a responsible and safe placement for our animals and supports reducing pet overpopulation.

Trial periods may be available for certain pets.
For animals who may need extra adjustment time, we can offer a short trial to ensure the adoption is a good fit.

Transport can be arranged in some cases.
Depending on location, we may be able to help coordinate transport for approved adopters.

All pets leave fully vetted.
Each animal is spayed/neutered (unless age/health prevents it), vaccinated, microchipped, and up to date on preventions.

We provide ongoing support.
After adoption, we are available to help with transitioning, behavior questions, or resources.

We reserve the right to deny any application.
The safety and well-being of the animal is our top priority, and we make decisions based on what is in the best interest of each pet.
