Hello there, I’m Rex—a Great Pyrenees and hound mix with long legs, a scruffy coat, and a heart that beats slow and steady. 🐶🤍 I’m about 2 years old and 45 pounds, mostly white with brindle patches and a little black ticking sprinkled in for good measure. My cute little underbite tends to steal hearts wherever I go. 😁✨
I’m quite the gentleman if I do say so myself—easygoing, polite, and calm. I get along great with other dogs 🐕 and I really enjoy people. I might be a little shy when we first meet, but give me a moment, some kind words, and maybe a yummy treat 🦴, and I’ll warm up in no time. Once I do, I’m all about love and companionship. 💕
I truly enjoy long, leisurely walks . I’m never in a hurry—there’s far too much to sniff! My hound nose likes to lead the way sometimes, stopping to smell every rose… and every interesting patch of grass. 🌸👃 I walk nicely on a leash and love soaking in the world at my own relaxed pace. Squeaky toys are one of my favorite things 🎾, and I’m a big fan of belly rubs too.
I’m a quick learner and eager to please, which makes training a breeze. 🧠✨ I know how to use a doggie door and I prefer to do my business outside. I came here as a stray transfer from another shelter, so they can’t promise I’m 100% house-trained—but I do my very best to be a good boy. 🐾
I’m neutered, fully vaccinated, and ready to head straight into my forever home. 🏡💛 If you’re looking for a gentle soul who loves peaceful walks, cozy lounging, and being your loyal sidekick, I’d love to meet you. I promise to take life with you one sniff, one step, and one belly rub at a time. 🥰🐾 You can also call the shelter at 479-394-5682 to find out more about me. **************** All animals at HSO are current on their vaccinations and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. If not already spayed/neutered, there may be a short delay between when you select this pet and when they are ready to go home.
Breed and age are determined based on observable physical traits. Actual lineage and birth date are rarely known.
Adoption Fees: -$60 for cats -$60 for dogs over 6 years -$80 for dogs 6 months old to 6 years -$100 for puppies up to 6 months
Come visit our pets Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-2pm.

When you decide to adopt a pet, we charge a fee to cover some of our costs. (Except for 2 employees, all others are volunteers!) If there is any problem with your adopted pet, call us to work out a solution. Occasionally, we do take adopted pets back, but very seldom. This is why visiting our shelter is so important! We are willing to work with you! And we appreciate referrals!
