Stop! Take a closer look at this handsome face. He is our adorable Baxter. And Baxter is a survivor. He was finally trapped by the rescue after running loose for months in the woods. At age two, he is now one happy camper, weighing a healthy 47 pounds. As you can tell by his interesting short coat, he is some type of mixed breed. Floppy ears and perfectly symmetrical coloring add to his looks.
Baxter was taken to a foster home to recover. He has not had any accidents while living there and has not been destructive. He has blossomed into a wonderful dog who loves to play with other dogs and enjoys spending time with children,
He is house and leash trained. It is not known if he has used a crate nor if he has ever lived with cats. It is important to remember that although Baxter is housetrained, accidents can occur while adjusting to a new home environment.
Daily short walks will be a good opportunity to work on socialization skills. It will be a new world to him with all the new sights, smells, sounds, and people along his walk.
He would also appreciate free time in a back yard to run and play. Keeping his mind active with activities that provide physical and mental stimulation will prevent boredom.
Baxter will want to be with a family that will give lots of affection and attention to him. In return, he will a wonderful family companion.
* When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust much better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability.
