My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Chanel – The Fanciest Feline this side of the Mississippi!

Chanel is being fostered through Friends of Rescue in Huntsville, Alabama, and she is ready to find her forever home!

This absolutely gorgeous, medium-hair buff beauty has stunning golden eyes and the most elegant, “fancy” look about her. At just 1–2 years old, Chanel is spayed, fully vaccinated, and microchipped — all she’s missing is you.

About Chanel:

- Calm, gentle, and incredibly affectionate
- A total “boogie cat” who loves to eat and lounge like royalty
- Loves having her long, luxurious fur brushed (spa day is her favorite!)
- Unbothered by dogs
- Selective about feline friends (proper introductions required)
- Thrives on human attention and affection

Chanel’s story makes her even more special. She was found alone and starving, and once rescued, she quickly “conned” her humans into endless meals and treats — gaining weight so fast we were convinced she was pregnant! (She wasn’t — just happily well-fed.) Now she’s ready for a balanced, healthy diet to help her reveal that beach body before summer.

Most of all, Chanel wants love. She would do wonderfully in just about any home environment where she can soak up attention, enjoy regular brushing sessions, and live her best cozy indoor life. She may do best as the star of the show or with a carefully matched feline companion.

We are willing to travel up to 2 hours from Huntsville for the right adopter.

If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate, slightly dramatic diva with movie-star looks and a heart of gold, Chanel may be your perfect match. 💛

Go meet their pets

Our adoptable animals are fostered in loving homes throughout Huntsville, Alabama and the surrounding area. Because we do not operate a physical shelter, meet-and-greets are arranged by appointment only—typically after an adoption application has been submitted and approved.

For out-of-town adopters, we’re happy to offer virtual meet-and-greets to help you get to know your future furry family member before adoption or transport.

More about this rescue

Friends of Rescue is headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama with transport locations throughout the Great Lakes and New England. FOR is a volunteer-run, 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2009.

Our mission is to save adoptable dogs and cats from overcrowded Southern shelters where limited space, minimal funding, and high intake rates often lead to euthanasia.

We are not professional trainers or animal behaviorists—just dedicated individuals working together to give these animals a second chance. Every pet in our program lives in a loving foster home and receives age-appropriate veterinary care while awaiting adoption.

Our ultimate goal is to match each animal with a committed, compassionate individual or family who will provide a FORever home.
