My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Dots, our beautiful senior girl. She is 15.5 years old and just under 8 pounds. She was adopted out from us many years ago and recently returned with her two kitty housemates after her owner could no longer keep them. Despite living with other cats, she is not a fan of them or other cats. She would love a cozy home as the only cat to enjoy her retirement in. Dots loves cheek rubs and pets and would happily hang out with you on the couch. Our vets found she has early stages of Hyperthyroidism, which she is on Methimazole, once daily to manage. She takes it great in a treat!

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

WCHS is conducting the viewing of our animals by appointment only. The Kennel Adoption Application and Cat Room Questionnaire can be found on our website under the ADOPT tab, then click Adoption Process. Please be sure to review our processes closely before filling out either form.
Once the forms are submitted, management will receive and review them within 24-48 hours. Please understand that our facility is receiving a high volume of request and are doing our best to accommodate as many as possible. Management may not contact you for 3-5 days. You will either be contacted via phone, or email with the findings of our inquiry and/or to schedule your one-on-one viewing appointment with staff.
Please understand that our facility takes the health and safety of its staff and surrounding community very seriously. With that being said, entry to our building is only granted to those who have been pre-approved and have been given a viewing appointment. Walk-in viewing IS NOT an option.

More about this shelter

As Will County’s original no-kill shelter we’ve been serving the area for over 40 years with a single purpose, provide a safe haven for homeless pets and help them find their forever home.

Every day of the year we care for up to 30 homeless dogs and 60 cats looking for their forever homes. We provide for their general health care, shelter and well being through our network of volunteers and resources.

It’s important that you know that we’re a private shelter 501(3)(c) not-for-profit that receives no federal or local government dollars to run our facility and care for pets. In fact the shelter relies on generous donations from people just like you to make it all happen.
