My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Loch, the "LOCHness monster of LOVE!" He is a stunning brindle boy with a heart as big as his beautiful coat. Social, friendly, and always happy to make new canine friends, he brings an easygoing charm wherever he goes.

This sweet guy has been through TWO TPLO knee surgeries, and while he's handled them with resilience, his body hasn't bounced back the way we hoped. He'll need ongoing care and future support for his knees, including removal of the hardware, so he's looking for a dedicated family ready to love him through it all ♥

Loch's personality is a delightful mix of cuddly companion and goofy mischief-maker. He adores snuggling up with his people, but don't let that soft side fool you-he is a certified destroyer of plush toys and will absolutely swallow them if given the chance. (Hard toys only for this boy!) Loch gets along wonderfully with other dogs and has lived with kids and cats (though he does enjoy a good game of "chase the kitty" if allowed!).

Currently in foster care, Loch could move into a foster-to-adopt home if his new person or family is ready to help him finish his recovery.

📍 Please note: Loch is not viewable at the shelter. If you'd like to meet him, please fill out an adoption application. Only approved applicants will be contacted for a meet and greet.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
