My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jocelyn is a 6-month-old adorable kitten who is looking for her forever home! This sweet girl may be a little shy when she first meets new people, but with a bit of patience, she blossoms into an incredibly loving and cuddly companion.

Jocelyn prefers not to be picked up, but the moment you sit down—or settle into bed—she’ll happily hop over to cuddle right beside you. Once she warms up, she’s gentle, affectionate, and hard to resist. She enjoys chasing toys, running around, and playing with other cats, and while she’s generally very gentle, she loves to wrestle and play with her brother, Johnnie.

With a medium energy level, Jocelyn enjoys playtime but is truly a cuddle bug at heart once she feels safe and comfortable.

Currently, Jocelyn lives in a busy foster home with adults, resident cats, and other foster kittens. She has full access to the house but prefers calmer spaces like the family room and bedroom. She can be nervous around lots of new people and may hide at first, but she bonds well with those who give her time and consistency.

Jocelyn’s ideal home will be a patient one that allows her time to decompress and adjust. She would do best starting out in a quiet room where she can’t hide completely, with humans who are willing to sit with her and let her come to them on her own terms. A family that respects her boundaries and allows her to initiate affection will be rewarded with a devoted cuddle buddy.

Because Jocelyn came from a cat colony, she is very social with other cats and would do best being adopted with one of her littermates—Johnnie, Stevie, or Alexis.

If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate kitten who just needs a little time to show her loving personality, Jocelyn may be the perfect addition to your home.

Additional adoption info

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

More about this rescue

Our Mission
Pet Haven improves the lives of pets and the people who love them by rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and cats; reducing pet overpopulation by supporting spay and neuter efforts, and providing resources to people that help strengthen the human-animal bond.

Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.

Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer

How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners
Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs
Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.

Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.

Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.

We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.

We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
