My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Sammy! Sammy is a sweet, young, playful pup with a curious and adventurous spirit—and according to his foster, “he is such a great boy.” At just 1 year old and around 30 pounds, he’s still filling out and will benefit from gaining a few healthy pounds.

Sammy appears to be a smaller Rottweiler mix, possibly with some Shepherd, thanks to his longer, softer coat and slender build. Whatever his mix may be, one thing is certain: he’s absolutely beautiful, smart, and incredibly soft—perfect for cuddling.

He is crate trained and house trained, does great with kids, and loves playing with other dogs. After a rough start in life where he was underfed, Sammy is now an enthusiastic eater and does best with a slow-feeder bowl.

Sammy truly shines when it’s time to relax—he loves cuddling on the couch and being close to his people. He enjoys toys, playtime, and exploring the world. While he can be a little nervous in new environments, he warms up quickly with patience and reassurance. He does okay on a leash and seems to enjoy car rides too.

With continued guidance, love, and stability, Sammy will make a fun, loyal, and affectionate companion for a home ready to help him continue building confidence and thriving.

Submitting an application is always our first step - it's free to apply! bcaaofnj.org

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process starts with the applicant filling out an adoption application for the pet they are interested in. When they have completed and submitted the application, the screening process is started, which consists of a vet check, phone interview and home visit. Once all the steps are completed, we determine, by our findings, if they are approved, and if so, then they are allowed to adopt from our organization. The final step is they must complete the adoption contract, along with the donation for the animal, which goes into our medical fund to defray their medical costs. All of our animals are spayed and neutered, up to date on all their shots, including rabies, they are parasite free and on heartworm preventative.
