Here's what the humans have to say about me:
A Soft-Hearted Senior with a Nub Tail and So Much Love to Give
Slater is an 8-year-old, 49-lb senior boy who is new to us and already showing what a special soul he is. Gentle, friendly, and incredibly sweet, Slater truly enjoys the simple things—kind voices, soft pets, and unhurried walks where he can stop and sniff to his heart’s content. His adorable nub tail and calm presence make him impossible not to love.
On leash, Slater is polite and easygoing, with just a hint of curiosity about squirrels. While he carries himself like the mature gentleman he is, he still has moments of puppy-like jumpiness that bring a smile and remind you there’s plenty of joy left in him. He’s affectionate and clearly appreciates human connection.
Slater’s life hasn’t always been easy. He was surrendered after his previous
person could no longer care for him, and for a time he lived without consistent access to outdoor bathroom breaks or medical care. As a result, he has some skin sores, lesions, and areas of hair loss. He is now safe, receiving treatment, and already on the path to feeling better. Through it all, Slater has remained trusting, loving, and eager to be close to people.
Slater truly deserves a soft place to land while he heals. A foster home would give him the comfort, routine, and quiet love he’s been missing—someone to take him on gentle sniff walks, offer plenty of pets, and remind him that he matters. If you’ve ever thought about fostering, Slater is the kind of dog who makes it deeply meaningful. He’s ready to rest, recover, and finally be cherished.
