Meet Baby, a delightful young Pyr who absolutely personifies joy! This smart cookie is as loving as she is clever, catching on quickly to new commands and eagerly working for treats and positive feedback. Baby has mastered sitting and waiting patiently for her dinner, and walks well on leash. While she's crate trained, she much prefers having the run of the house and sleeping peacefully all night in her own dog bed. With a very high activity level, Baby is part gymnast, part contortionist, and part cuddle bug who loves to tumble, roll, run, and play fetch like a champion. She can whirl like a Dervish mid-run just because she can, and if her bed has a bolster, she's likely to do a slow-roll summersault into it and sleep however she lands! This enthusiastic playmate is also passionate about napping, and she loves to sleep on her back with at least two legs sticking up. Baby enjoys the company of other dogs, both males and females, and does best with a playmate who's a physical match. She's never aggressive during play and happily shares napping spaces. When meeting new people at home, Baby takes a little while to warm up, reading the room's energy from her safe space before venturing out, though she gets over her initial shyness quickly when out on walks or in new areas. This fun-sized girl is alert and attentive, always ready for whatever adventure you have planned, with a smile on her face and that look in her eyes that says she's paying attention. Baby loves chew toys, bones, Kongs filled with frozen sweet potato or pumpkin, riding in the car, being brushed, and curling up beside her human or dog buddy. She's wonderfully affectionate without being needy or underfoot. She's highly food-motivated and loves all treats, period! Her ideal home would include a fenced yard (at least 5 feet) where she could access the outdoors at will to scout the perimeter and do her daily zoomies and whirlies. She would thrive in a patient home with a dog buddy. Call Baby over to the rug while watching TV, and she'll keep your feet warm, offering gentle Pyr-Paw reminders when you pause your rub-down too soon. This rough-and-tumble player is surprisingly gentle in the house when taking treats, wakes up gracefully without being startled, and never digs. Baby is cute, cuddly, compact, easy to enjoy, and ready to make her human and dog buddy the center of her universe!

NYS Registered Non-Profit Rescue # RR102. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog.

Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.
