Dog Test: (Selective with Dogs) Groundhog has not been around dogs to the shelter staff`s knowledge, but may do okay if given proper introductions to a dog.
Cat Test: (Okay with Cats) Groundhog has been around cats at the shelter and does not seem to mind them, but would do okay in a home without cats as well.
Kid Test: (Good with Kids) Groundhog would do good with kids of all ages!
Litter Box Trained: (Uses Litter Box) Groundhog is litterbox trained.
Energy Level: (Low-Medium) Groundhog is a fluffy, friendly guy with a big heart and an even bigger love for people. Groundhog thrives on affection and is always happy to soak up pets, cuddles, and any attention you’re willing to give. His soft fur and warm personality make him an instant favorite, and he’s the kind of cat who truly enjoys being part of the action. Our shelter is open 7 days a week. (Excluding holidays).
Monday- Friday 8am-5pm
Saturday- Sunday 10am-2pm
We ask that you come visit any time between open and no later than 30 minutes prior to closing. This ensures that staff will have enough time to assist you in meeting one of our great furry friends!

More about this shelter
We are a Municipal Animal Shelter for the City of Lee's Summit. We house animals brought in by Lee's Summit Animal Control Officers and Blue Springs Animal Control Officers.
Animals are also brought to us by owners that can no longer keep the animal or by strays that were impounded for running loose.
When an animal comes in as a stray, it is held for 5 days to give the owner a chance to claim it. If the owner does not claim it, on the 6th day it is put up for adoption or foster. During this 5 day holding period, if a potential adopter would like to adopt the animal, they are welcome to sign up on the adoption list. The names on the adoption list are contacted on the 6th day if no owner has made claim.
If there are no names on the adoption list, then the animal will become first come, first served when available for adoption.
