A soulful ten-year-old American Pitbull Terrier currently in Hauppauge, NY, whose tan-and-white coat wraps around a heart that’s bigger than his 75-pound frame. With a soft smile that lights up the room and a cuddle drive that rivals a weighted blanket, Fenrir is the definition of a love bug. Devoted, gentle, and deeply in tune with his people!
Fenrir is happiest when curled up beside someone, gently snoring through an afternoon nap or resting his head in your lap while you read or relax. He thrives in calm environments and does best when his caregiver is home most of the time, he's a true constant companion! Due to a history of trauma and severe separation anxiety, he struggles with being left alone, especially in confined spaces. When left, he wears a doggy diaper and is given enriching toys, but his stress can lead to behaviors like chewing or accidents. He’s currently on daily medication for both anxiety and seizures, which helps him manage the world around him with more peace.
Fenrir’s affection for people remains unshaken. He’s wonderful with children and gets along beautifully with cats! With dogs, he’s cautious, after being attacked multiple times by larger dogs, he’s now reactive to aggressive canine behavior, though he’s fine with calm, friendly pups. His ideal home would be a quiet one with no large or confrontational dogs and with a gentle, understanding family ready to support a special soul.
Fenrir knows his basic commands like sit, paw, touch, and stay. He’s house-trained, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. He does have arthritis and a heart murmur, but he’s been assessed by specialists and is managing well with care and medication. Fenrir also has deep fear of tall staircases, so a one-level living space or easy-access layout is important for his comfort and safety. Oh, and did we mention he smiles when he’s happy? Yep, this sweet boy will light up your life with his quiet joy and unwavering loyalty!
If you're someone with a steady routine, a big heart, and a cozy couch to share, Fenrir just might be your perfect match!
