Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This handsome hound dog is sure to steal your heart!
Kanen arrived at FVHA as an owner surrender due to lifestyle changes in his previous home.
Kanen is a beautiful 9-month-old American Leopard Hound also known as a Leopard Cur! This is one of the oldest treeing dog breeds in the United States. The American Leopard hound was originally used for hunting various game, including raccoons, bears, and bobcats. A lively breed known for their loyalty, intelligence, and protective nature!
Kanen is a little undersocialized and nervous here at the shelter but we can`t blame him for being anxious in this new unfamiliar environment. With the patience, love, and dedication of staff and volunteers, we have had the pleasure of seeing him blossom in a short time! We imagine with time and a kind, patient adopter, he will settle in beautifully at home. We`ve seen glimpses of his true silly, puppy self and he`s sure to bring a smile to your face daily!
Kanen has lived with other dogs in his previous home and might benefit from a confident, friendly canine companion in his forever home! He has a habit of chasing kitties so he would likely do best in a home without cats. He hasn`t been exposed to children previously so we recommend bringing any small family members to meet him prior to adoption!
Kanen is neutered and has received core vaccinations (bordetella, canine distemper, rabies), flea + tick preventative, has been dewormed, and is microchipped.
If you are interested in adopting Kanen, reach out to us at 920-733-1717 or adopt@foxvalleypets.org. You can also make an appointment online or feel free to take a peek during our open hours!
