This helps Brooklyn Animal Action with pet care costs.
Meet Chester, a 5-year-old tuxedo gentleman affectionately known as Mr. Easygoing. After everything he endured on the streets, Chester is more than ready for the cushy life—and he’s already very good at it. Within minutes of arriving at his foster home, he claimed all the best spots: the middle of the bed (preferably near your feet), the coziest place on the couch next to a warm human, and a sunny windowsill for quiet observation. He loves food, soft beds, and being in the same room as his person, gently reminding you at mealtime with the sweetest little chirp. Chester is undemanding but deeply affectionate, wrapping around ankles for pets and leaning in for chin rubs whenever the mood strikes.
Chester would thrive with someone who enjoys feeling needed and appreciates a cat who soaks up affection while still being happily independent. He follows his foster around during the day, supervises morning routines from the bathroom doorway, and reliably comes when called—he definitely knows his name. At bedtime, though, Chester takes charge, appearing promptly to let you know it’s time to turn in so he can curl up at your feet. His perfect day includes a hearty breakfast, a bit of play, window-watching, surprise head pats, and greeting you at the door with visible relief when you return home. If Chester had his way, you’d spend more time in bed just so he could be close—and honestly, it’s hard to argue with that.
Chester was rescued as part of a colony in Crown Heights, where several cats had been poisoned. We were able to get Chester to safety and now he's so ready for his forever home. He's neutered, up to date on vaccines, free of fleas and parasites, and negative for FeLV. He tested positive for FIV, but he's asymptomatic. FIV is common and no big deal. With a healthy diet and annual vet visits, FIV cats can live long and healthy lives. Chester would prefer to be your only cat.
