Thank you so much for your interest in Hugo. He is still available for adoption. His adoption fee is $300, though we’re happy to be flexible for the right home. Hugo is 5 years old, weighs about 35 lbs, and came to us from a local shelter after needing heartworm treatment. He has since completed his treatment and is now healthy, happy, and patiently waiting for his forever family.
He’s truly a staff favorite — his sweet charm, adorable little grunts, and spotless kennel habits make him impossible not to love. He has such a gentle spirit, and we’re all rooting for him to find the home he deserves.
Because we don’t observe our animals in home environments, we can’t guarantee whether they’re fully housebroken. Every pet adjusts at their own pace, and some may need a bit of patience and consistency as they settle into a new routine.
Every animal adopted from us receives:
Spay/neuter surgery
Microchipping
Updated vaccinations
Blood and fecal testing (with treatment if needed)
Flea/tick and heartworm prevention
A free wellness exam within 7–10 days of adoption
To adopt, you must:
Be at least 21 years old
Live within one hour of our facility

Our adoption fees for puppies start at $400, though could be higher based on adoption demand, and includes 4 veterinary visits to update vaccines and perform spay/neuter. Some dogs have higher adoption fees because of adoption interest
Our shelter mission focuses on medical and behavioral rehab cases, so our adoption fees never cover our costs.
We have an adoption application for dogs and cats and will check a vet reference as well as information regarding your home situation and pet compatibility.

Animal Hope opened its doors as a standalone shelter on February 1, 2015.
Prior to that, Animal Hope operated as a small rescue at Animal Hospital Southwest. As the municipal veterinarian for the city of Fort Worth, Animal Hospital Southwest frequently pulled difficult cases that the city was not equipped to treat and rehabilitate due to budgetary and time constraints.
From this organization was born the Animal Hope shelter, a rescue focusing on rehabilitation and “second chance” adoptions.
