My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Rider. I came to the shelter as a stray, and at first the world felt pretty overwhelming. New places and new people can be scary for a little guy like me, but once I see the same friendly faces each day, I start to relax and show who I really am. I can be a bit sensitive with certain handling, so I appreciate being listened to and given space when I need it, but when I know you're safe, I lean in close, nuzzle up, and soak up all the affection I can get. I would do well with respectful children who understand my boundaries, and I don't seem to mind other dogs, so I could potentially share my home with a canine friend. Shelter life is a lot for me, and I'd love a calm, patient home where I can continue to build confidence and feel secure! Think you could be the one to make me feel safe again? I would love to meet you!

HSSC places animals on a first come, first serve basis. After an animal that is available for adoption has been met with, the animal’s name can be put on an application. Animals that are applied for must be adopted the same day or within 24 hours of the animal being placed on the adoption application. Exceptions will be made if any animal needs a medical procedure, but then will need to be adopted within 24 hours of being cleared from that procedure. HSSC reserves the right to accommodate alternate timelines for special needs/behavioral issue animals.
It is the potential adopter's responsibility to communicate with their landlord to contact HSSC for approval or to provide documentation stating permission within 24 hours of application submission.
It is also the potential adopter's responsibility to produce a current rabies certificate for their current dog(s) to conduct a dog to dog meet and greet within 24 hours of application submission.
