Hi, I`m Colleen and I`m so excited to meet you! I`m a fun loving yellow lab mix with energy to spare and a whole lot of love to give. I`m a bright, energetic gal who wakes up ready for the day. I love to play, run around and stay busy, making me a great match for an active adopter who enjoys walks, games and keeping life interesting. My personality is sweet and playful, and I`m eager to learn- I just need you to show me the way. When it comes to other dogs, I`m very unsure about them. I previously lived on a farm with my two sister dogs, but in a home setting I should be an only dog. That said, I can still enjoy having dog friends outside the home. I can`t live with cats, they don`t appreciate my enthusiasm. If you`ve been looking for a fun new friend who`s ready to learn and grow with you, you`ve found her!

1.
Submit Application

Review our adoption process and complete our new online pet application. If you need assistance, call us or visit our Adoption Center!

2.
Approve Application

If you have had pets in the past 10 years, we will do a vet check and we will check with your landlord or HOA that you can have the pet.

3.
Meet the Pet

Once approved, everyone in your home will need to meet the pet. Also, any existing dog will need to meet a dog you want to adopt.

4.
Sign Adoption Contract

We will ask you to sign an adoption contract and pay our adoption fee - a schedule of fees is on our website.

We have one Adoption Center at 1901 W. Ogden Ave., Downers Grove, IL. Please come in to complete our pet application or fill it out online and we will contact you to schedule an appointment to meet our awesome dogs and cats!

The West Suburban Humane Society (WSHS) is a volunteer-based, no-kill animal rescue that was founded in 1972 in the western suburbs of Chicago. WSHS now finds homes for more than 500 dogs and cats each year!

WSHS is 100% funded by individual, corporate, and private foundations donations, and has over 450 active volunteers! WSHS is caring for about 200 animals at any given time.
