If you see pets listed by a private owner, it means that they’re adoptable through Adopt a Pet’s Rehome program – the safe and reliable way to find a loving new home for your pet.
Dixie is a sweet, almost 10-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback/hound mix with wonderful manners and a calm, people-loving temperament. She's fully potty trained, knows all her basic commands (sit, stay, lay down, come, and more), and enjoys nothing more than being close to her family. Her favorite things include gentle attention, exploring outdoors, and soaking up the sunshine.
She gets along well with other dogs and cats in the home, though she isn't especially playful with them and prefers human companionship. Dixie is active and happy to go for walks or runs, spend time in a fenced yard, or relax outside, but she'll always choose being indoors with her people when they're home. She maintains a healthy 55 lbs and eats standard dry food at her own pace.
Dixie is up to date on all care, including her rabies vaccine, which is valid through 2027. She does experience some separation anxiety and can become stressed in boarding or vet environments, so she prefers to not be left alone for hours.
