My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mother Goose is the perfect companion for someone who wants a dignified roommate. While this lady is more than happy to receive your pets and brushing, she’ll lounge in her chair and wait for you to come to her rather than beg for your attention. She might join you on the couch, but at the other end or pressed against your leg rather than in your lap, and she'll steal your warm spot as soon as you get up. While she may be 12 years old, she still has plenty of energy for playing with string and q-tips!

This cat has been diagnosed with a heart murmur and would benefit from an echocardiogram -- we would appreciate it if their potential adopter could help us cover this cost ($430 total) in lieu of an adoption donation. There is a chance that this heart murmur was just stress from when she was first rescued, she will be getting a recheck in early February for this.

This cat would prefer to be adopted alone and be the only cat in the home.

More about this rescue

Our rescue group was formed in December 2007, but all our Board Members have had extensive experience rescuing and working with abandoned animals. We often work with other rescue organizations to find appropriate and safe foster and adoptive homes for our pet clients. We regularly go to areas with abandoned animals and collect them. The animals are taken to a licensed veterinarian examined, treated and spayed or neutered. Every effort is made to work with the animal and our foster and adoptive families to find a suitable forever home.

For those animals who are truly wild and feral, we release the animal in a safe and secure location after it has recovered from its medical treatment. We also work with certified wildlife rehabilitators to rescue injured and orphaned wildlife. Our organization is focused on improving the welfare of the abandoned animals in need of help in Brooklyn. In furthering that goal, our resources are focused on the animals.

Aside from a few minimal overhead costs such as our website and phone services, our entire budget is spent on animal care such as medical and food costs.
