Athena is an "ideal dog" says her foster. She is "extremely friendly", great with people and other dogs, loves to cuddle and play, and her foster says that she is doing well with training. "Great sleeper, player, eater" is how the foster describes Athena. Her foster also tells us that Athena has a medium-energy level, enjoying playing with their resident dogs, yet not restless or getting into off-limits things when it is quiet time. In fact, when the other dogs are sleeping, Athena will seek out her foster at home and sits by quietly. Athena is housebroken and food motivated. While she loves to run around outside, she is not an overly-enthusiastic walker, preferring to sniff for a few blocks, and return home for a rest. She does not seem to have a strong prey drive, but she has not yet been introduced to cats.
While Athena is a playful young girl, she is not a loud barker. In fact, Athena's foster says that she rarely barks, even when other dogs are barking. "She just occupies herself with a bone." Athena lays quietly on the kitchen floor as her foster prepares dinner (see photos!). "Kind of a dream boat" is truly a wonderful (and unusual) description of a foster dog, but that is what we are told! What we see is a beautiful, houndy-mix sweetheart, who loves to engage humans and dogs alike, and who would make a wonderful family member!
PAW adopts in the MD, VA, DC and northern PA region.
