Meet Raffi, a handsome Lab/Pitty mix with a heart as big as his beautiful smile. He is a stunning young dog who turns heads wherever he goes, but it’s his loving nature that really steals hearts.
He came into rescue this past summer after showing up as a stray puppy in rural Mississippi with his brother. Thanks to the quick action of a kind foster, the boys were brought to safety. After a tragic loss, Raffi found himself on his own—but his story didn’t end there. In his new foster home, Raffi is truly thriving.
Raffi is learning what it means to be a loved puppy in a family environment. He is incredibly affectionate, very cuddly, and enjoys both outdoor adventures and cozy indoor time with his people. He loves to play with other dogs and would be happiest with a canine friend or an active family to keep him engaged.
Raffi does have a playful prey drive—he enjoys chasing cats and chickens just for fun—but he has never harmed smaller animals. He’s simply enthusiastic about the chase, so supervision or a pet-free home without small animals would be ideal.
He’s doing great with his training and is a smart boy who wants to please. He is housetrained and is currently catching on quickly to crate training after previously living in an outdoor pen with a dog house. Raffi is learning to walk on a leash and improving every day. With continued consistency, he’s going to be an amazing companion. He does experience a bit of motion sickness, so he does best riding in the car on an empty stomach.
This sweet boy would do wonderfully in an active home, especially one with children who can match his playful energy and give him the love he deserves.
Raffi has been through a lot in his short life, yet he remains joyful, trusting, and full of love. He’s ready to start his next chapter—with you. 💛

More about this rescue
PAWS is comprised of a small group of volunteers from New England and Tennessee trying to reduce the euthanization rate (previously 90%) at the Tipton County Animal Control shelter in Brighton, Tennessee. This shelter is forced to euthanize thousands of animals each year due to irresponsible pet owners that do not spay/ neuter their dogs in the area. Millions of dogs in America are euthanized each year due to lack of space and lack of funding to try and find them better homes.
Our mission is to save as many animals as possible, removing them from the shelter, having their veterinary needs met prior to traveling and then finding them loving homes throughout New England. We do this only with the assistance of many people volunteering their time by going to the shelter, transporting the dogs to the vet, fostering dogs who need special care, and arranging for their new and happy homes in this area. Most importantly, we cannot do any of this without those people willing to open their homes and hearts to these lovely creatures.
