My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you looking for a cat who loves her people? Cairo is the kind of cat who warms up fast, talks a lot, and believes food is the key to friendship. Just under two years old, Cairo is incredibly affectionate and friendly. She loves weaving around your legs, asking for chin scratches, and will head-butt your hand (or face!) when she wants more attention. She’s comfortable being picked up and cuddled, enjoys lying right beside you, and will occasionally curl up on your chest for extra closeness. She also loves greeting her people with cute little meows and trills. Cairo is more of a “ground cat” than a climber. She prefers hiding in boxes, loafing on the floor, or lounging under beds rather than scaling cat trees. Her favourite nap spots include a carpet sample in the den, the bed, or the sofa – ideally wherever her person is! Playtime is simple with Cairo. Her favourite toy is a piece of string, along with wand toys she can stalk and chase, or puzzle-style boxes where she can search for treats. Cairo may start off a little shy and likes to hide at first, but give her a few treats and she’ll quickly decide you’re her person. She’s very food-motivated and will happily chat your ear off when she hears the rustle of a food bag. Wet food, kibble, freeze-dried or dehydrated fish treats - Cairo is not picky at all! She’s well-behaved, doesn’t scratch much, rarely jumps on things, and generally just wants to be near you, following you around and settling beside you whenever she can. We aren’t sure how Cairo is with other cats or dogs. She would be fine on her own, with someone home often to keep her company.

Cairo came to us after being found abandoned on a trail. She was fortunate to have been trapped before the cold winter set in. This lovely girl is now ready to find her forever home at last.

Cairo would thrive in a calm home where she can enjoy lots of snacks and soak up one-on-one attention. If you’re looking for a chatty, affectionate companion who just wants to be near you, Cairo may be the girl for you!

As we often receive numerous applications for each cat or kitten, we will only contact applicants who best suit the needs of the cat or kitten. For example, if it is stipulated that the cat needs another cat buddy at home and you do not have one, you may not receive a response. Finding the best home for our cat or kitten is our top priority. Applications are not first-come, first-served.

More about this rescue

Home at Last Rescue (HALR) is a Registered Canadian Charity, that is 100% volunteer driven. Our goal is to rescue cats from substandard living conditions and give them the loving homes they deserve.

We provide medical care, emotional support and a loving environment while preparing them to find their forever homes. With no physical location, all of our cats and kittens reside in loving foster homes across the Greater Toronto Area until they are ready for adoption.

We receive no government funding and rely solely on adoption fees, donations and our fundraising efforts to support our initiatives. We believe there is a home for every cat and a cat for every home.
