My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Scooter!

Scooter is a big guy with an even bigger heart! This laid-back, lovable pup is working on his New Year’s resolution of shedding a few pounds and would do best in a home ready to support his healthy lifestyle.

Scooter can thrive with or without other dogs and has a calm, easygoing personality—his foster family says nothing seems to rattle him. He loves affection and, true to his dachshund roots, isn’t shy about expressing himself in the cutest way.

Scooter is both crate trained and house trained, and he’s ready to be a loyal, loving companion in his forever home.

More about this rescue

Dogs Deserve Better is a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to freeing the chained or penned dog and bringing our best friend into the home and family.

Our mission is to provide a better life for abused, neglected and abandoned canines; especially those which are chained or penned without human companionship. We strive to accomplish this through advocating for humane legislation; promoting spay and neuter; educating communities on animal welfare; and rescuing and finding loving inside homes for canines.
