My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Poppy

I’m a 2-year-old all-black beauty with a heart full of sweetness and a little tongue that loves to stick out—I think it adds to my charm! I came to the shelter as an owner surrender because I wasn’t feeling my best. Thanks to the amazing shelter team, I’ve been steadily improving and feeling more like myself every day.

When you come to meet me, you might find me tucked away in a cozy box at first. New places can be a bit overwhelming! But if you offer me some gentle pets—especially around my bum—you’ll be rewarded with the cutest little meows and maybe even a new best friend. I really enjoy attention once I know I’m safe.

I’m looking for a kind, patient home where I can continue to blossom, share my sweet personality, and charm you with my bleppy face and adorable voice. Could that be with you?

More about this shelter

The Windsor/Essex County Humane Society was founded in 1926 and incorporated in 1949. The Humane Society has a publicly-tendered contract with the City of Windsor to provide animal control and basic shelter services in the City.
