Meet Bruce, a 2-year-old Foxhound mix who is truly as handsome as he is lovable. He came to us from our friends at Northampton Animal Control with glowing reviews for his charming personality, and he has lived up to every one of them. Bruce greets each day—and every dog and person he meets—with a big, happy tail wag and a bright, joyful spirit.
Bruce loves to play fetch, enjoys a good snuggle, and has a wonderfully sweet and gentle nature. He’s quiet, smart, and an all-around easy companion who seems to fit in wherever he goes. His affectionate personality and friendly demeanor make him a joy to spend time with.
Bruce does have significant skin allergies that will require lifelong treatment and preventative care to keep him comfortable and healthy, so a vet reference is required for his adoption. We do not have any history of Bruce living with cats or children. If you’re ready to provide ongoing medical care and are looking for a loyal, loving best friend, Bruce may be your perfect match.

You have two options:
#1- VISIT IN PERSON
Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available dogs in the shelter.
(Dogs in foster care are not available for in-person visits.)
#2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD**
If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the dog first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a dog for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours.
**Holds are not available for puppies under six months, on Saturdays, or during adoption events.

All adult dog adoption fees include;
-spay/neuter
-rabies and kennel cough vaccinations
- heartworm test
-current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian)
-microchip implanted & registered to adopter
-treatment of fleas & ticks
-veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin
-free vet exam within 30 days of adoption with participating veterinarians
Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your pet.
