Poppie is a 3-year-old tuxedo queen with opinions, boundaries, and a whole lot of love to give—once she decides you’re worthy (don’t worry, it won’t take long).
Originally adopted with her brother, Poppie discovered that sibling rivalry was not her vibe. His bullying made her unhappy, and she’s since made it very clear: she would like to be the one and only feline ruler of her kingdom. No roommates. No nonsense. Just her throne and her people.
Poppie is on anxiety medication and takes her daily pill like an absolute champ—zero drama there. She’s a sensitive soul who doesn’t love drastic change, but once she feels safe, she blossoms into a deeply loving lap cat. One of her signature moves is greeting you with a tiny hiss (purely for flair), followed immediately by a meow… because manners.
She loves to crawl into her foster mom’s lap and soak up all the affection she’s been missing, proving that beneath the sass is a devoted cuddle bug.
Poppie is looking for an adult-only, cat-savvy home where she can be understood, respected, and adored as the queen she is. Give her stability, patience, and love—and she’ll give you her whole heart (and your lap will never be empty again).
Poppie is currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting her, please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org.
Adoption fees are as follows: $155 for a single cat or kitten, $195 for a pair of cats or kittens. When adopting a cat from AHSEM the adoption includes spay or neuter surgery, age appropriate core vaccines, microchipping, combo tested (for FIV/FeLV), and basic wellness care including deworming and flea treatment.

AHSEM treats every adoption as "foster to adopt" This means that the first two weeks in which you have the cat is the "foster period." We do our best to ensure the right match for all involved and want to give the cat(s) time to decompress and adapt to their new environment. However, we realize sometimes things don't work out as expected. Therefore, during that two-week period, if something doesn’t work out you can bring the cat back. We will always take our cats back even after the "foster to adopt" period. We would hate to see them end up at a kill shelter, abandoned, or any other unsafe situation.
