OVERVIEW

Riesling is an absolute sweetheart! Wherever you go, she goes. She’s your little shadow and proud of it. This good girl is incredibly cuddly and thrives on affection, happily curling up next to you for snuggles after following you around all day.

Sweet Riesling has a gentle, loving nature and forms strong bonds with her people, making her the perfect companion for someone looking for a loyal best friend. With her gentle personality and affectionate heart, Riesling will bring endless love, comfort, and joy into her forever home.

Riesling is approximately 6 months old and weighs 18 lbs. She may gain a few pounds but will be a small dog. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on all shots.

Her breed blend is Terrier. A DNA test, if done by her new parents, may yield more information.

This dog is available for adoption through KenMar Rescue.

If you're interested in adopting, the first thing you should do is email info@kenmarrescue.org to request an Adoption Application and put “Adoption Application Request for Riesling” on the subject line of the email.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

The following information is the most recent update we have received from Riesling’s foster parents. We have made this information available to help you, our adopters, learn more about Riesling prior to inquiring about a meet & greet.

Please read thoroughly before reaching out to us—this will help reduce the number of emails we receive every day and in turn, allow us to respond to the emails we do receive more quickly!

Please note that a dog's behavior often varies from one environment to another, and a decompression period in a new environment can last days to months.

General Personality:

Riesling is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and cuddly. She is very gentle. She has a soft, mushy personality and thrives on love and attention.

Riesling is curious and friendly, especially when meeting new people and dogs! She wants to say hello to everyone she sees.

Daily Routine: She typically wakes up around 7 am, goes to the grass patch in the backyard to relieve herself, then eats breakfast. If the weather allows, she goes for a morning walk. In the afternoon another walk depending on the day, with playtime and rest in between. Early dinner is around 3-4 pm.

About 45 minutes after her meals, she has a bowel movement.

After evening playtime and relaxing, Riesling sleeps through the night in the bedroom in her crate.

Is the dog housebroken?

Yes, to our environment, floor plan and routine.

Behavior Around Dogs:

Very polite and playful.

Please note:

There are no cats or kids in her foster home.

Energy Rating (1 = very high; 5 = very low): 4

Leash Walking Rating (1 = difficult; 5 = perfect): 4

Leash Behaviors:

Riesling enjoys going on walks and is very curious about her surroundings. She does pull a bit at the beginning of walks, especially when she is excited, but tends to settle and walk more calmly as the walk goes on. She is very interested in people and other dogs and often wants to say hello, but she has been polite and appropriate during greetings. She is still learning leash manners and continues to improve with consistency and guidance.

Crate Rating When Left Alone:

Enjoys spending time in her open-door crate filled with toys and cozy blankets to nest in.

Does the dog sleep through the night?

Yes

Other Quirks: N/A

What makes him/her happy?

Riesling is happiest when she is close to her people. She loves cuddling, being nearby, and following you from room to room. She enjoys going on walks, meeting new friends and dogs, and exploring outside. Playtime with her toys also makes her very happy, as does having a consistent daily routine.

What makes him/her nervous or unhappy?

Riesling can be startled by loud or sudden noises such as vacuums, or unfamiliar sounds outside. She may bark briefly when she hears people or loud noises outside, but she settles with reassurance and redirection.

Other Displayed Behaviors and Information:

Knows the “Sit” command and will sit pretty for her food bowl.

Current Walking Device:

Padded harness with leash and ID tags attached to her collar.

Currently Eating:

Taste of the Wild Venison or Salmon flavor mixed in with canned pumpkin and a hard boiled, crumbled egg.

We are located in Northern California, near Yosemite. So transportation logistics may be an issue. Especially if things do not work out, how would the orphan be returned to us?

Would you be the primary adopters? Responsible for future care, feeding and future annual vet visits and medical expenses? Please consider these things before applying.

Additional adoption info

We want to ensure that all of our dogs go to wonderful, loving, new, permanent homes. We work hard to find the best home for each individual dog, to create a lasting “love connection” between adopter and pet. To that end, all potential adopters are carefully screened through our application process. We ask an adoption donation for each of our dogs. Every dog is spayed or neutered, given vaccinations, microchipped, and provided with any other necessary medical treatment before they go to their new home.

You too can help save a dog's life!
