My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Smudge. He is a handsome grey guy who believes in quality control when it comes to new people. He may take a little time to warm up, but once you're in, you're REALLY in. And that's when the magic starts.

When Smudge decides you're worthy, he rewards you with the LOUDEST (that's not hyperbole) purrs, enthusiastic affection and a whole lot of love. He truly adores attention - he just prefers to get to know you first. Add some catnip to the mix and you'll see his playful, blissed-out side come out in full force.

Smudge is the kind of cat who forms a genuine bond and sticks with his people. If you're patient, kind and looking for a sweet companion who's absolutely worth the wait, Smudge will happily claim a spot in your heart (and on your couch.)

More about this shelter

Founded in 1941 by the third female graduate from Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, SAVE is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit animal shelter dedicated to protecting the health and welfare of homeless companion animals in the greater Princeton area and beyond. Through six core programs of Rescue, Shelter, Health and Welfare, Spay/Neuter, Foster and Adoption.

The SAVE shelter facility has the capacity to house upwards of 100 animals at a time (approximately 75 cats and 25 dogs). The shelter exceeds no-kill benchmark standards and ensures that adoptable animals facing adversity are given a lifeline, a chance to flourish, and the promise of a better tomorrow.
