My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I came to Safe Haven with my momma-Colby, brother-Bleu, and sister-Gouda. I really like to cuddle with my family, but will let humans get close and do some cuddles too. I really enjoy eating like my brother and found that treats are delicious too! I love to play king of the mountain with my siblings, we will climb any and all surfaces in our room. I cannot wait to get adopted and settle into my furever home, if you think your home is my furever home hurry and put in an application for me today!

Once an application is approved, we ask potential adopters to come to the shelter to visit the pet or pets they are interested in. If it seems like a great fit, then we would have you fill out the Adoption Contract and provide you with the pet's medical chart, some of the food it is currently eating, and offer any advice we can on that individual cat or dog.

Our shelter is located at 1471, US Highway 20 West, Elizabeth, IL, 61028. Our hours are: Monday - Saturday, 10am to 3pm. We can provide by-appointment-only visits from 3pm to 5:30pm. We are closed on Sundays.

Safe Haven is a small non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, located in Jo Daviess County and supported entirely by community donations & memberships. Our Board of Directors, Shelter Staff, and Dedicated Volunteers believe that together we can make a difference in the lives of cats, dogs, and the people who care about them.

Our mission at Safe Haven is to provide a haven and treatment for adoptable cats & dogs, place them in suitable homes, increase awareness of the humane treatment of animals and promote spay & neuter programs to reduce the overpopulation of cats and dogs in Jo Daviess County.
