Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Basil – ID 16209 – Kennel 305
Dachshund mix – tan and white – male – approx 15 years old – 13 lb – neutered – up to date on vaccines – heartworm negative – house trained – dog friendly – good with children – arrived Jan 7
Basil is a poor, sweet senior boy whose heart has been broken. After spending his entire life—about 15 loyal years—in the same home, Basil was brought to the shelter when the people he thought were his family said they were moving and he could not go. Everything he had ever known disappeared in an instant, and now this gentle soul waits in a kennel, confused and longing for comfort.
Despite the upheaval he’s experienced, Basil remains incredibly sweet. He is house trained, good with other dogs, and gentle with children. At just 13 lb, he’s an easy little companion who is used to being part of a family and sharing quiet moments with the people he loves.
Senior dogs like Basil struggle deeply in the shelter environment. He doesn’t understand why he’s here—he only knows that he misses having a home. Basil urgently needs a loving place to land where he can feel safe again, rest peacefully, and be cherished for the rest of his days.
If you have room in your heart for a senior who has given a lifetime of loyalty and love, Basil is waiting. He deserves comfort, kindness, and his real forever family after losing everything he’s ever known.
Note - all the listings on Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb are done by volunteers. If this cat or dog came in as a lost animal, we do not know how they might be with children, other pets, or if house trained. You can bring your pet to the shelter for a meet & greet with your potential new best friend. When inquiring about a cat or dog, please use THE ID NUMBER.
