My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lucy! At just over a year old, this young lady is pretty, playful, and pampered. She's an athletic girl who loves running around either in a fenced-in area or with someone that can keep up with her energetic pace! Lucy loves to follow up a long run with cuddling, kisses, and hopefully some snuggling! If you're looking for a cuddly gym partner, look no further than Lucy!

Kids: Lucy has never met any kids before but we recommend children 10+ due to her energetic nature.

Dogs: Lucy does seem to enjoy dog friends so far but has never lived in a house with another dog. We recommend supervision and patience during introductions for the best chance of success.

Cats: Lucy has never met a cat before so we have no idea how she'd get along with a feline friend.

Some of Lucy's Favorite Things Include: Peanut butter, rope toys, being the fastest, kisses, scratches around her neck

Lucy is spayed, microchipped, and fully up to date on vaccines and preventions! For questions or to schedule a Meet-n-Greet, please complete an application and WCHS will reach out

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoptions are processed same day! All we ask is for an adoption questionnaire and survey to be completed as well as a copy of the adopter's state ID in order to assure they are at least 18 years old.

Each animal has a fee which must be paid at the time of adoption and there is a small amount of paper to be completed as well.

We ask that adopted animals safely leave the shelter either in a carrier or in a leash and collar.

All adoptable animals have been spayed/neutered, received, age appropriate vaccinations, and a microchip! Cats have been tested for FIV and FeLV. Dogs have been tested for heartworm as well as kept current on flea and heartworm prevention.

More about this shelter

The Wood County Humane Society was originally founded in 1904, and has been committed to the well-being of many different species of domesticated animals that require our help. In 1988, the Minniebelle Conley Shelter was established through the generous legacy of the Minniebelle Conley Trust, and our current location was built to provide these services, and has continually been doing so since. We are a private, non-profit, limited admission, 501(c) (3) organization and rely on the generous contributions and donations of our members and residents of Wood County. We do not receive any funding from the ASPCA or the Humane Society of the United States for our daily operations.
