Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Olive is a 10-year-old sweetheart who is ready to settle into a calm, loving home for her golden years. This gentle senior girl has a heart full of love and truly shines as a companion. She adores cuddling, rides beautifully in the car, and walks nicely on leash, making her an easy and wonderful partner for quiet adventures or cozy days at home.
Olive loves meeting new people and happily greets everyone with kisses and a wagging tail. She’s the kind of dog who just wants to be near her person, soaking up every moment together. Her love is steady, warm, and incredibly special—the kind of love only a senior dog can give.
Senior pets often wait the longest for their forever homes, but they have so much to offer in return. Olive still has a lot of love to give, and she’s hoping to share it with someone who will cherish her for who she is. We’re crossing our fingers that Olive’s stay at SoHumane will be a short one, and that her next chapter will be filled with comfort, companionship, and love.
The adoption fee for all dogs includes spay/neuter, basic vaccination, parasite preventative, and a 24PetWatch Microchip. Our SoHumane adoption packet includes: Medical summary report for your newly adopted dog, coupons, and additional post-adoption information. Dog adoption fees vary, starting at $225.00 SoHumane is located at:

Take the Pet Home
Pets that are spayed/neutered can go home same day. Pets not fixed will need to stay at SoHumane while they wait for surgery.
Additional adoption info
Depending on the needs of the pet, we may have specific home requirements to help the pet be successful in their new home. Adopters interested in adopting a dog and who have other dogs in the home will need to bring their dogs from home to meet which pup they are interested in.

More about this shelter
More than 95 years of lifesaving efforts invested into our community. SoHumane provides quality care for dogs and cats while working to make a difference in the pet overpopulation problem. Annually, SoHumane serves approximately 1,600 companion animals. In 2022 we successfully adopted out 1,275 animals, and saved 427 animals from euthanasia at other shelters through our Saving Train program.
SoHumane is a registered not-for-profit organization dedicated to the humane treatment of companion animals. Mae Richardson founded the Humane Society of Jackson County in 1928 as an all-volunteer organization that initially provided services for displaced dogs and horses.
