My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Flower was brought in by his previous owner on December 20, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Flower, a sensitive soul with a heart of gold who just needs the right "garden" to truly bloom! While he might start off as a bit of a wallflower due to his fearful history, this boy has a spunky side that shines through once he knows he's safe. Flower is looking for a calm, quiet, and predictable home where he can be the center of attention. He's looking for a dog-free environment with savvy humans aged 12 and up who are ready to follow expert coaching. Building a friendship with Flower is all about the "slow and steady" approach, using high-value treats and delicate play to win him over. He's already shown he can be quite social when introductions are handled with care, but he'll definitely need an extended acclimation period to get his bearings. Keeping his stress levels low isn't just about his mood-it's vital for his health! Flower has a history of urinary issues, including a past obstruction, which means his new family needs to be vigilant. He recently received a long-acting antibiotic for a UTI on January 3rd, and his new humans will need to schedule a vet follow-up on or after January 13th to make sure he's feeling 100%. His future family will need to keep a close eye on his litter box habits, because if this handsome fellow is ever straining or unable to go, it's a straight trip to the emergency vet-no questions asked! If you have the patience to let him set the pace and the commitment to manage his medical needs, Flower is ready to reward you with a lifetime of quiet companionship and gentle purrs. He's a special boy who just needs a special person to recognize that the most beautiful flowers sometimes take a little extra time to open up. Don't forget to bring a secure cat carrier for a safe ride home!

Shy/Fearful Cat: Flower requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
