Their adoption process

Before you apply, confirm the following to ensure a smooth application review process:

-Residency: Applicants must be residents of Connecticut.
-Age: Applicants must be 21 years of age or older.
-Landlord Approval: If renting, confirm that your rental agreement allows for cats. Provide landlord contact information for verification if applicable.
-Kittens: Kittens must be adopted in pairs or be adopted to a house with another cat.

If you are interested in adopting, please complete our adoption application at tailsct.org/adopt. We may not respond to inquiries through Adopt-a-Pet in a timely manner, but will respond to applications as soon as possible. If a cat is listed, they are still available.

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
    Please be sure to answer all questions and include phone numbers for your personal & vet references.
  2. Approve Application
    Once you are approved an adoption counselor will advise you on available cats and make arrangements for you to meet them.
  3. Meet the Pet
    Cats can be meet either at their foster homes or at one of our adoption events.
  4. Take the Pet Home
