Meet Gigi 💁‍♀️🐾
18 lbs of sass, smarts, and snuggles

If you’re looking for a small dog with a big personality, Gigi is your girl. This 18-lb Chihuahua mix is equal parts playful, cuddly, independent, and just a little bit sassy—in the best way. 🐾

Gigi has a medium energy level and thrives on a nice balance of walks and indoor fun. She enjoys a couple of shorter daily walks (about 20–30 minutes), but she’s just as happy entertaining herself with toys, puzzle games, lick mats, and bully sticks. She’s fantastic at playing solo and then politely putting herself down for a nap—honestly, goals. 🐾

On leash, Gigi walks well and is happy to greet people (sometimes a little too enthusiastically—jumping up is something she’s working on). She’s polite with other dogs, preferring a quick sniff and then moving along with her day. While she likes dogs, she would do best with calmer, low-key canine friends, as high-energy dogs can be overwhelming for her. 🐾

At home, Gigi is crate trained, house trained, and an all-around easy companion. She sleeps through the night in her crate (though she would happily upgrade to a human bed), settles well when left alone with enrichment, and travels nicely in the car—preferably buckled in, unless you’re open to her trying to sit on your lap like a tiny co-pilot. 🐾

Gigi is affectionate, confident, and people-loving. She enjoys cuddles, naps near her human, and will even rub against your legs like a cat when she’s feeling extra cozy. She’s great with handling, enjoys being dressed for outings, and greets the world with curiosity rather than fear. Kids are fine too—dog-savvy kids aged 5+ would be ideal, as Gigi appreciates being able to choose when she wants affection. 🐾

Now for her quirks (because every icon has them):
• CEO of sock & shoe collecting (no chewing, just redecorating)
• Occasional alert barking at hallway noises or door knocks
• A dramatic little butt dance when it’s time to go outside
• A grazer at mealtimes, which works best in homes where other dogs won’t steal her food 🐾

Gigi’s ideal home is one that enjoys daily walks, enrichment, and quality cuddle time. She’d be happy with a single person, couple, or family who appreciates her sassy-sweet personality. A home with another calm, playful dog could be a great match, but she’d also be content as your one-and-only sidekick. 🐾

Smart, classy, a little bad-assy, and full of charm—Gigi isn’t just a dog, she’s a lifestyle. 💖 If you'd like to chat with our team about meeting Gigi, please complete an application on our website: https://www.ruffstartanimalrescue.com/dog-application-form

Go meet their pets

We do not host adoption events. We do bring some of our dogs to fundraisers to meet potential adopters who then must complete the full adoption process.

More about this rescue

We are a small foster based rescue who focuses on helping areas of overpopulation and dogs in desperate situations. We are run by dedicated volunteers and generally only have a handful of dogs in care at one time so we can focus on exactly what they need to feel better and find a loving home.
