Bailey is a 5.5-year-old pitty mix who is ready to find her forever home. She has shown herself to be very dog-friendly and does wonderfully interacting with other dogs, making her a great candidate for a home with canine companions.
Bailey truly loves people and especially enjoys the company of adults and older children. During a recent overnight stay with one of our volunteers, Bailey proved what a fantastic house guest she is. She is fully house-trained and will gently whine to let you know when she needs to go outside. She does not destroy items in the home, explored the backyard calmly and cautiously, and made no attempts to jump the fence.
Bailey is very food-motivated and a great listener, which makes her easy to work with and eager to please. While she isn’t particularly interested in toys, she more than makes up for it with her affectionate nature. She’s a bit of a velcro dog who loves being near her people—and yes, she’s also a proud bed hog! Bailey prefers not to be petted on the top of her head, but once you respect her boundaries, she happily shows her sweet, loving personality.
She does well on leash but would benefit from continued practice to further build her confidence. Bailey is also a great car rider, making her an excellent companion for outings and adventures.
Bailey is fully vetted — she is spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, and microchipped. We are a nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter comprised mostly of volunteers. We take in cats and dogs from local shelters and the public who can no longer care for their pets. Each of the volunteers at FMAR has a tremendous amount of love for animals and simply wants to do what they can to ensure that as many animals as possible find a forever home. Until then, each animal has a home at FMAR indefinitely.
